As it turns out,  the first day of school isn’t always about the outfit and assembly.  Here I am, senior year, and I have obviously been mistaken for the last three years of my life.   A lot of you probably didn’t notice,  but there was a senior missing on the attendance sheet today.  That would be because I am not at school today.  I am in Madrid, Spain at the celebration of World Youth Day with 1.7 million other people from around the globe.

Weird right? What person in their right mind would skip out on their last first day of school? At first I was worried.  But why? What could I possibly miss that would really affect my life in anyway.  Agenda book....Spain...Agenda book...Yeah, I think I’ll go with Spain.

When you are given the opportunity to see the world, and do something this amazing and educational, you run with it.   My whole life I have been told that the best way to learn is by experiencing.  I guess I decided to listen this time.  Going into my senior year this way has given me a motto to live by for the year-- experience.  Experience all that I can; make new friends, be sketchy with the old ones, laugh, LEAVE MCPHERSON and then when we walk across the stage in May, have no regrets and many stories.

Today I am wearing the same shirt for like the third time this trip because, might I add, I am on a pilgrimage.  I also haven’t seen an english-speaking person other than Colleen since August 5th, so someone please help me. Today I have had the best last first day of school ever.  I didn’t get to pick out a super fabulous outfit and go to the assembly. But I promise I’m repping the senior class all the way over in here in Madrid.  And let’s be real, Class of 2012 has it in the bag anyways.
